The community battery trial is open to all residents living in the trial area, however, Endeavour says places are limited. Consumers can participate regardless of their energy retailer, and you don’t need rooftop solar or to own your home to participate.
Community batteries provide a shared battery allowing a group of neighbours to store and share solar power. You don’t have to have rooftop solar or to own your own home to participate.
Through Endeavour Energy’s retail partner, Origin Energy, trial participants will rent a portion of the battery to virtually store and access neighbourhood solar. Participating customers will receive a rebate on the energy they store and use from the battery.
Benefits included reduced household energy costs, access to battery storage without having to buy a battery, and reduced household carbon footprint.
