ENA acting chief executive officer Bill Nagle acknowledged the leadership Mr Ferguson has shown during his time as Minister and his long-term involvement in the sector as Shadow Minister.

“Serving as Minister for Resources and Energy since 2007, Mr Ferguson has brought stability and experience to a portfolio that is vital to the prosperity of Australia,” Mr Nagle said.

“As the reform agenda for the gas and electricity network sector has developed Mr Ferguson has engaged constructively with network businesses to

build a strong energy sector, effective and transparent governance arrangements, and to deliver the best results for the long term interest of consumers.

“His service has provided the sector with confidence and continuity through robust debate. The progress of energy reform has been well served by his leadership and ENA thanks him for his service.”
