Tilt Renewables has kicked off construction at the 288MW Palmer Wind Farm in South Australia.

Palmer Wind Farm will be built between Palmer and Tungkillo, approximately 70km east of Adelaide. The project is on the lands of the Peramangk People.

Upon completion, the wind farm will deliver enough renewable energy to power up to 142,000 South Australian homes.

Tilt Renewables chief development officer Laurent Francisci said, “Starting construction on such a large project is a great milestone to celebrate and is the culmination of what has been a truly collaborative effort over many years.

“The support of the South Australian Government through agencies such as Invest SA, as well as the assistance and feedback we received from Mid Murray Council, were crucial in getting it over the line,” he said.

“Likewise, the support from the Commonwealth’s Capacity Investment Scheme combined with a long term off take agreement contract with our partner AGL, provided the certainty needed to make such a large investment.

“Just as important was the active involvement of the Peramangk People, our host landholders and the local community.

“Wherever we build or operate, we’re investing for the long term, working with our communities to support them now and into the future.
