With Australia now firmly on the path to a renewable energy future, the Clean Energy Council has created a free, new, online resource that shines a light on career opportunities within the sector.
The Clean Energy Careers Guide is Australia’s first dedicated careers resource for the renewable energy industry.
For anyone who has ever wondered how they can be a part of Australia’s clean energy transition, the Clean Energy Careers Guide is an invaluable resource providing students and employees from other industries with information about pursuing a career in renewable energy.

“The Clean Energy Council is working on painting a picture of what clean energy jobs exist, as a means of supporting individuals, Australian governments, education and training systems, and clean energy employers to fill the widening skills gaps,” Clean Energy Council CEO Kane Thornton said.
“The clean energy industry can provide fulfilling career opportunities, and it’s important that young Australians can envisage their futures in the sector, education and training organisations can offer the right pathways, and government support systems can focus their efforts where they are most needed.”
The Clean Energy Careers Guide provides insight into the professions available in the clean energy industry and the educational pathways required to pursue them.
The Australian clean energy sector employs about 30,000 people across large-scale renewable energy construction, operation and maintenance, plus small-scale rooftop solar design and installation.
There are shortages across all these areas, but especially when it comes to engineers and electricians.
With the Federal Government requiring renewable energy to do much of the heavy lifting to achieve its 2030 emissions reduction target, addressing the clean energy skills gap will be crucial to ensuring that the industry’s growth isn’t impeded and that Australia’s clean energy transition continues to accelerate.
