The latest update on the Australian PV Institute (APVI) solar map shows Australia has surpassed 4GW of rooftop solar PV. The news came just days after the Australian Bureau of Statistics data indicated one if five houses around the country had a rooftop solar array.
APVI, which operates the solar map that tracks capacity, output and generation share across Australia, said rooftop solar capacity has quadrupled since 2011.
The institute estimated more than 40 per cent of households in Queensland and South Australia now have solar panels, noting PV system prices have steadily decreased in recent years as the average size of installations has gone up.
