Victorian Treasurer Jaclyn Symes will replace Lily D’Ambrosio as the state’s new Minister for Energy and Resources, the State Electricity Commission, Climate Action, and Environment.
D’Ambrosio, Australia’s longest serving energy minister, announced last week she would be stepping down from Cabinet and retiring from politics.

New Victorian Premier Ben Carroll yesterday unveiled his new Cabinet, saying it was “a Labor team ready to deliver a new direction for Victorians”.
“My team is experienced and united, focused on getting things done. I have reduced the Ministry. This is a simple measure I can make right now to save taxpayers money,” the Premier said.
“Because every dollar my government spends will be treated with respect and only where it delivers the greatest value for Victorians.
Together, we will ensure our Cabinet earns the trust Victorians place in it.”
As well as becoming the new Minister for Energy and Resources, the State Electricity Commission, Climate Action, and Environment, Symes will remain the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council.
Announcing her new portfolio appointment on Facebook, Symes said, “I am eager and thrilled to start in new portfolios, knowing that I follow in the footsteps of a Labor giant Lily D’Ambrosio.
