Bison Energy completes Aussie renewables portfolio sale

Japan’s Bison Energy has completed the sale of its Australia and New Zealand renewable energy development portfolio to I Squared Capital.

The transaction represents a further deepening of the strategic relationship between Bison Energy and I Squared Capital, following their earlier collaboration in Japan.

Bison Energy has successfully established a diversified and scalable pipeline of solar, battery energy storage system(BESS), and hybrid renewable energy projects across Australia and New Zealand.

The portfolio, comprising approximately 2GW of development assets across multiple sites, has been transitioned to a successor platform under new ownership, supported by long-term institutional capital to advance projects through their next stages of execution.

“This transaction demonstrates the strength of our development-led investment model and our ability to partner with global infrastructure capital at scale,” Bison Energy CEO Michael Zhang said.

“Our collaboration with I Squared Capital has evolved from Japan to Australia and New Zealand; we believe this portfolio is well positioned to continue its progression under long-term ownership.

Bison Energy remains continues to advance renewable energy development initiatives across Japan, Europe, and other international markets, with a focus on solar, energy storage, wind, and integrated clean energy infrastructure.
